This past week I attended an experimental art workshop at Carrefour Beausoleil in Miramichi. The purpose was basically to have fun, loosen up and try different mediums. For me that meant switching from my regular mediums of watercolour, oils and pastels to a medium I’ve never really cared for….acrylics.
I did enjoy the week as I attended with many friends from the Miramichi Art Core. Can’t say I learned to like acrylics any better though…it just won’t ever be my medium of choice. I was relatively happy with a couple of the paintings…and like them or not…they will all be on display and sale at Carrefour this coming week along with the work of the 6 other artists that took part in the workshop ..so drop in for a visit!
Almost forgot to share this one with you… out again with an artist friend a couple of weeks ago…painting from our cars…this time, Wilson’s Point Trail Gates in Winter for me. Kelly did a pastel of a cropping of trees. I’ve done an oil and a pastel on location since the start of the year..so thought I’d give it a go this time with watercolours. I was quite happy with the result. Size 8 X 10 inches. M. Graham watercolours on Arches 100% cotton paper. 140lb.
High snow banks made it difficult to find a view lately… but here’s one I found yesterday… The Centennial Bridge in Miramichi. Mixed dry media on toned paper - size 5 X 7 in.
Presentation of The King Charles ||| Coronation Medal event was held in Fredericton on February 9
I am deeply appreciative of the recognition of my art work by Senator David Adams Richards and also both humbled and delighted to be in the company of those much more deserving.
Painted February 2nd on location in Chatham, Miramichi touched up in the studio today.
Had a great afternoon with Kelly Hay-Hambrook painting from our cars on a really cold day…we were faced in opposite directions…she faced the wharf creating a pastel and me the town. I’ve always loved the sight of this little red building.
