Old Ferry Wharf

I had a nice little paint out in the car yesterday down at Old Ferry Road in the Douglastown area. I always enjoy that area where the old ferry wharf juts out into the river and have painted there with watercolours many times…but usually from an angle that shows St Michael’s across the river. This time I took my mini  oil set-up…everything I need in one little box that sits on my knee and I stopped on the side of the road where the little protected lagoon to the right of the old wharf was visible. I’m not entirely happy with this little painting. I think I choose too complicated a scene for this 5 X 7 inch canvas without first thinking how I might simplify it…..but here it is…for better or worse….it was just enjoyable to get out with my brushes before the snowstorm.
